Mit den meisten Nominierungen und damit als größter Anwärter geht JOKER mit 11 Nominierungen ins Rennen, darunter Bester Film, Beste Regie und Bester Hauptdarsteller. Ihm folgen THE IRSIHMAN, 1917 und ONCE UPON A TIME... IN HOLLYWOOD mit je 10 Nominierung. Je 6 Nominierungen bekamen LITTLE WOMEN, PARASITE, JOJO RABBIT und MARIAGE STORY.
Aus deutscher Sicht erfreulich: Die Co-Produktion THE CAVE / DIE HÖHLE geht als Beste Dokumentation ins Rennen. Und in Bezug auf den Service für Robert Pattinson: Für THE LIGHTHOUSE / DER LEUCHTTURM wurde Jarin Blaschke für Beste Kamera nominiert.
